Living in the Higher Realm - Damon Davis

From the beginning, there has been a distinction between two ways of living—thelower realm and thehigher realm. The lower realm is ruled by self-interest, instinct, and reaction, while the higher realm is marked by purpose, awareness, and relationship with God.

Genesis 6 paints a bleak picture of humanity—every thought of man’s heart was continually evil, driven by a self-centered, unconscious way of life. Yet Noah was different. He foundgrace in the eyes of the Lord because he lived in a higher realm—he was just, aware, and walked with God.

In the same way, 1 Peter 3:18-21 connects Noah’s story to our salvation in Christ. Just as the flood washed away wickedness and marked a new beginning, baptism symbolizes the washing away of the old, lower self so we can walk in newness of life.

  • Genesis 6:5-6 – The Corruption of Man

    • Humanity had fallen into a state of complete wickedness. Their thoughts were “only evil continually.”
    • This describes a life driven by impulse, ego, and self-preservation—a reactionary way of living that lacks awareness of God.
    • The Lower Mind (Adam’s fallen nature):
    • Because of this condition, the world faced judgment, but God had a plan through Noah.
  • The Flood: A Picture of Washing Away the Old Mindset

    • The flood was not just about destruction; it was about cleansing.
    • It represents the removal of the carnal, ego-driven self so that new life can emerge.
    • Peter connects this to baptism—not a mere physical washing, but a transformation of the conscience (1 Peter 3:21).
  • Genesis 6:8-9 – Noah Found Grace

    • Unlike the world around him, Noah was described asjust, perfect in his generations, and walking with God.
    • The Higher Mind (Eesh – the spiritual man):
  • Noah’s Ark: A Symbol of Salvation and Transformation

    • The ark representsbeing set apart for God’s purpose.
    • It was a place of safetyabove the waters of judgment, just as living in the higher realm places us above the destruction of the lower life.
    • Jesus, our ark, carries us into a new way of living—one led by the Spirit, not by the flesh.
  • 1 Peter 3:18-21 – The New Life in Christ

    • Jesus suffered for us so that we might bebrought to God—lifted from the lower realm to the higher.
    • Through His resurrection, we are made alive by the Spirit, just as Noah and his family entered a new world after the flood.
    • Baptism is more than a ritual—it is thedeath of the lower self and theresurrection into spiritual awareness.
  • Romans 12:2 – Be Transformed by the Renewing of Your Mind

    • Living in the higher realm requires arenewed way of thinking.
    • It means shifting from a reactionary, ego-driven life to a Spirit-led, purposeful walk with God.
  • Rejecting the Lower Mindset:

    • No longer living by impulse, fear, or selfish ambition.
    • Recognizing when our actions are driven by ego rather than faith.
  • Embracing the Higher Realm:

    • Living in constant awareness of God’s presence.
    • Seeking His will rather than our own.
    • Trusting in the work of Christ rather than striving in the flesh.
  • The Invitation to Rise:

    • Just as Noah entered the ark, we are invited to step into the life Christ offers.
    • The question is, will we stay in the lower realm, or will we rise into the life of the Spirit?

The flood washed away the corruption of the lower realm so that new life could begin. In the same way, Christ’s death and resurrection call us to leave behind the self-driven, unconscious way of living and step into the Spirit-led, purposeful life God intended.

Today, the invitation stands: Will you live in the lower realm, ruled by instinct and ego? Or will you rise into the higher realm, walking in righteousness, grace, and purpose with God?

The ark is ready. The flood has come. And Jesus is calling you to new life—Not someday. Now.
